1823 Candlewick Bedcover

800.00

Initialed  HCW and dated 1823 this is a wonderful candlewick bedcover found in Maine.  Candlewick is unbleached cotton or muslin into which loops of yarn are hooked and cut or knotted to create the desired motif. This one has two seams with the center panel measuring 28 inches across.  This particular piece is unusual in how it has a combination of lace and candlewick for the border.  It measures 82 inches by 103 inches, not including the last border of lace as it has some damage.  There are two small browning spots which I have shown in the photograph.  I have also photographed the damage to the laces.
