18th Century French Toile de Nantes

$250.00

This is a quilt fragment measuring 23 " x 29".  The toile was manufactured in Nantes France in 1792.  In this set of mythological scenes we recognize the chariot of Amphitrite, the toilet of Venus, the forge of Vulcan, Bacchus drinking and love castigating.  It is copper plate on cotton.  The red is still very vibrant and it is in excellent condition for its age. Two edges are finished and two are cut. The back is a loosely woven linen. I don’t see any holes or stains. There is one mend at one of the cut corners which I’ve shown in the last photo.
