I am always so happy to find purple toiles! This toile print is named “L’amour et l’amitie” (Love and Friendship). It was drawn by JJ Karpf, Munster, Hartmann manufacture, printed 1818-1820. This is a quilted piece backed with a light linen, bound on the upper edge and the lower scalloped edge. The sides are not bound. It measures 31” wide and 27” long. From its size I surmise it was most likely part of a quilted bedspread. Overall the condition is very good. There are two areas on the lower edge where there is some browning which I believe is a stain, not a fading of the purple. I’ve tried to show it in a couple of the photos. There is also a mend in the scallop on the left side. It looks like it was a tear that has been sewn back. It should be visible in the last photo. I don’t see any other condition issues.
