19th Century French Chintz with Birds and Butterflies

$165.00

This is a beautiful chintz that we found in the South of France. It looks to have been part of a curtain panel as one end shows where machine stitching for a hem was removed. The colors are incredibly vibrant and the detail is amazing. The selvage width is 33 inches and this piece is 22.5 inches long. There is some foxing in the off white background which is not uncommon in textiles of this age. As you can see from the photos it does not detract from the beauty of this fabric. It does still have its glaze. I don’t see any holes or mends.
