Antique "Centurion" Toile Fragment

295.00 350.00

I believe this fragment was once part of a bedcover.  It measures 31" by 30".  The lower edge is scalloped.  The upper, lower and right edges are finished, the left is not.  I do not know the proper name of this toile nor its origin.  I believe it to be early 1800's and probably French.  The scenes in this toile have what I believe are Roman soldiers or centurions.  It is in good condition for its age.  The red is what I would call a warm raspberry tone.  It is backed with a light linen, probably homespun, and is lightly quilted to the front.
