Mother Goose Quilt

750.00

Here is a really wonderful Mother Goose quilt circa 1930's-40's.  It is likely a kit quilt.  The applique and embroidery are outstanding.  Each square represents a Mother Goose rhyme and the words "Mother" and "Goose" are quilted on the sides of the quilt in the white strip.  I've tried to show them in the photos.  The quilt measures 64" by 79". The squares measure 7" by 7 1/2". There are 24 nursery rhymes represented in the center squares and then four more in the corners.  The quilt is backed with a light blue cotton.  The batting is a bit thin in a few places.  Above the word "goose" is a white quilted square that has a tiny hole and a small brown spot.  I've shown them in the last photo. The quilt is hand pieced, hand appliqued and embroidered and hand quilted at 8spi.  The binding is a blue cotton which is also sewn by hand.
