1830-40's Chintz Star Quilt

600.00

Here for your consideration is a wonderful chintz star quilt. The fabrics date to the 1830’s-40’s. There are 31 squares measuring 9.5” x 10.5” separated by a 1 1/2” strip of blue dotted fabric. To fill in the edges are 19 half squares. The quilt is bordered with a 2 1/2” strip of the blue dotted fabric. This quilt has a cut out for a poster bed. The top measures 73” across. The sides come down 76 1/2” to the drop which is 11” deep and 49.5” across. This quilt is all hand pieced and hand quilted at a very even 6spi. The back is a home dyed brown, maybe walnut. There is an applied binding. Condition is really quite good for it’s age. I see a couple of small spots that are lighter than the rest of the fabric in that piece. I also found one very tiny hole and one of the brown stars has some shattering. I have photographed all three of these in the last photos.
