1907 Crazy Quilt - *SOLD*

Dated 1907 this fabulous crazy quilt has some of the most amazing embroidery. Some of the stitch patterns we have never seen before. There are several things that make this quilt uniqe. The first is that the fabrics are predominantly wool felts with some silks. The maker also pieced the squares on point and each square has a curve in it so there is tremendous flow in the pattern of this quilt. There are cornucopia in each corner. We have photographed each of these squares for you to see the detail. This quilt is backed with a red fabric that feels like a wool challis. There is also a ruffle that is attached by machine. We believe it was probably attached later, but don't know that for sure. The quilt without the ruffle measures 71" x 83". The ruffle is 5 1/2" wide, so with the ruffle the quilt measures 82" x 94". There is one small hole in the ruffle which we have photographed. There are also two silks that have popped. We have also photographed them for you to see as well as one silk that has a stain on it.
